Since May 2021, Khaity Technologies has been actively participating in the ongoing Federal initiative, “Promotion of Olive Plantation on a Commercial Scale in Pakistan Phase-11,” serving as a third-party consultant. The initiative, projected to span from 2021 to 2024, involves a host of activities aimed at promoting sustainable olive cultivation in the region.
The project’s key activities include the following:
- Olive Plantations: Establishing commercial-scale olive plantations is at the core of this initiative. This aspect involves careful planning, site selection, preparation, and planting to ensure healthy, productive orchards.
- Drip Irrigation Systems: The project includes the installation of drip irrigation systems, a water-efficient irrigation method crucial for maintaining olive plantations, particularly in areas prone to water scarcity.
- Wild Olive Grafting: Grafting wild olive trees with cultivated varieties is another crucial activity within the project. This approach can help enhance the productivity of existing olive trees while retaining their resilience.
- Professional Training: The initiative provides training sessions for farmers and other stakeholders, ensuring they are equipped with the latest knowledge and best practices for olive cultivation and management.
- Adaptability Trials: Adaptability trials are being conducted to study how various olive varieties perform under local conditions. This research can inform future plantation efforts and help optimize the productivity and sustainability of olive farming in Pakistan.
By engaging in these activities, Khaity Technologies plays a pivotal role in this significant initiative, aiming to strengthen the olive oil industry in Pakistan, support local economies, and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
